Android Market Tembus 50.000 Aplikasi

MOUNTAIN VIEW, KOMPAS.com - Hanya dalam waktu 18 bulan, bursa aplikasi Android Market berhasil menembus 50.000 aplikasi. Jumlahnya memang masih jauh dari aplikasi di Apple App Store, namun pertumbuhannya sangat tinggi dari hari ke hari membuatnya bisa bersaing ketat.

Google yang membangun inisiatif dengan platform berbasis open sourcs tersebut menyatakan pada Desember 2009 lalu baru ada 16.000 aplikasi. Pertengahan Maret 2010, jumlah aplikasi berlipat hampir dua kali menjadi 30.000 aplikasi.

Terakhir, situs AndroLib melansir statistik baru menunjukkan aplikasi di Android market sudah mencapai 50.000 buah. Masing-masing dengan perbandingan 59 persen aplikasi gratis dan 41 persen aplikasi berbayar.

Sebagai perbandingan, aplikasi di Apple App Store mencapai angka yang sama 50.000 aplikasi dalam waktu 12 bulan sejak diluncurkan. Saat ini sudah lebih dari 190.000 aplikasi di bursa milik Apple tersebut.

Dell Seriusi Bisnis Ponsel

Interaktif, Jakarta - Keseriusan Dell untuk terjun ke pasar telepon seluler pintar makin jelas terlihat. Setelah Maret lalu memamerkan Dell Aero pada kongres CTIA Wireless di Las Vegas, Amerika Serikat, salah satu vendor komputer terbesar itu kini malah menyiapkan lima ponsel pintarnya sekaligus.

Selain Dell Aero, yang disebut-sebut bakal menjadi ponsel Android terkecil, Dell menyiapkan Dell Thunder, Dell Smoke, Dell Flash, dan Dell Lightning. Thunder, Smoke, Flash, dan Aero menggunakan sistem operasi Android. Adapun Lightning akan ditanami Windows Phone 7.

Bocoran soal Dell yang akan meluncurkan lima ponsel pintarnya ini dikabarkan oleh situs teknologi, Engadget, Rabu lalu. Informasi ini langsung tersebar di ranah maya, dan mewarnai topik pembahasan di berbagai portal teknologi. Seperti apa ponsel besutan produsen yang sebelumnya lebih dikenal sebagai vendor komputer ini? Inilah bukti keseriusan Dell itu.

* Dell Lightning

Ponsel ini dilengkapi layar sentuh kapasitif WVGA OLED ukuran 4,1 inci. Selain sistem operasi Windows Phone 7, Lightning ditanami prosesor Snapdragon QSD8250 1GHz. Resolusi kameranya juga cukup besar, 5 megapiksel, dengan autofocus. Sedangkan memori internalnya sebesar 8 gigabita dengan memori RAM 512 MB plus slot kartu MicroSD. Fitur lain yang dibenamkan adalah GPS, sensor akselerometer, kompas, radio FM, serta dukungan penuh Flash dan video playback.

Perangkat yang juga dilengkapi keyboard QWERTY dengan desain geser (slider) ini kabarnya akan dikapalkan pada kuartal keempat tahun ini, bersamaan dengan peluncuran Windows Phone 7. Menurut Engadget, Microsoft tidak akan menanam Flash di OS tersebut. Pada kuartal keempat 2011, Lightning akan diluncurkan dalam versi LTE.

* Dell Thunder

Di antara lima ponsel yang tengah dipersiapkan, kabarnya Thunder yang paling diunggulkan. Seperti Lightning, ponsel ini dikemas dengan layar sentuh WVGA OLED 4,1 inci. Bedanya, Thunder, yang bersistem operasi Android v2.1, tidak berbentuk slider dan tak dilengkapi keyboard QWERTY. Kameranya lebih besar, 8 megapiksel, dengan autofocus. Kabar yang tersiar menekankan bahwa Thunder bakal memiliki integrasi jejaring sosial dan dukungan Flash 10.1

Engadget menyebut antarmuka Thunder mirip antarmuka Sense UI dari HTC. Selain Flash, Thunder akan terintegrasi dengan aplikasi video web, Hulu. Prosesornya juga sama seperti yang dimiliki Lightning, yakni Qualcomm Snapdragon QSD8250, 1 GHz. Thunder akan dijual melalui AT & T dalam versi HSDPA pada kuartal keempat tahun ini. Seperti Lightning, Thunder akan hadir dalam versi LTE pada akhir 2011.

* Dell Smoke

Smoke hadir dengan desain yang cukup menarik, dengan keyboard full QWERTY di bawah layar sentuh 2,8 inci QVGA-nya. Android 2.2. Froyo adalah sistem operasi yang akan menjalankannya, dibantu prosesor Qualcomm MSM7230, 800 MHz. Spesifikasi lain yang tak kalah penting adalah kamera 5 megapikselnya dan kecepatan transfer datanya 14,4 Mbps HSPA. Slot kartu microSD juga tersedia, dengan konektivitas Wi-Fi dan Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR. Si 'Asap' dengan ketebalan 10,5 mm ini kabarnya akan dirilis pada kuartal kedua 2011.

* Dell Flash

Ini adalah ponsel berbentuk batang permen yang berjalan dengan Android 2.2. Froyo serta antarmuka Dell Stage UI. Ponsel ini dibangun dengan layar sentuh TFT WVGA 3,5 inci dan didukung prosesor Qualcomm 800MHz. Ia memiliki memori RAM 512 MB dan mendukung kartu microSD hingga 64 GB.

Flash, seperti namanya, telah mendukung Flash 10 dalam browser-nya. Kamera 5 MP autofocus ponsel ini juga telah dilengkapi flash alias lampu kilat. Di sisi konektivitas, Dell Flash menawarkan quad-band GSM/EDGE dan 3G tri-band dengan HSPA, Wi-Fi dengan DLNA, Bluetooth 3.0, serta jack audio 3,5 mm dan TV out. Flash, yang sedikit lebih tebal ketimbang Smoke (tebalnya 11 mm), berbobot kurang dari 115 gram. Flash akan dipasarkan pada kuartal pertama 2011.

* Dell Aero

Di antara empat lainnya, Aero yang pertama kali tampil di hadapan publik, yakni di ajang CTIA Wireless, Maret lalu. Meski tidak mempertontonkan jeroannya--cuma dipamerkan fisiknya--kehadiran Aero mulai menyingkap keseriusan Dell menekuni pasar ponsel pintar. Desain Aero dibuat dengan "semangat" Dell Mini 3i, ponsel Dell yang diluncurkan di pasar Cina tahun lalu.

Ukuran layar keduanya memang sama, 3,5 inci. Yang membedakannya adalah Aero menyediakan 3G dengan HSDPA, Wi-Fi, dan kamera 5 MP--fitur yang tak dimiliki Mini 3i (kamera Mini 3i hanya 3,2 MP). Ponsel berbasis Android OS v2.1 ini kabarnya akan di-refresh dengan Android v2.1 di kemudian hari. Aero juga bakal meluncur paling cepat ke pasar, yakni pada kuartal ketiga atau keempat tahun ini.

Droid Incredible, Gebrakan Baru Android HTC

Washington - HTC semakin agresif. Vendor ponsel Taiwan ini diam-diam akan merilis handset Android powerful, HTC Droid Incredible, setelah sebelumnya sukses menggelontorkan berbagai ponsel high end.

Vendor smartphone terbesar keempat dunia ini pertama kali memasarkan Incredible di Amerika Serikat pada akhir April, menggandeng operator Verizon. HTC optimistis Incredible dapat sukses karena permintaan smartphone Android mereka di AS cukup tinggi.

Droid Incredible dianggap lawan sepadan bahkan melebihi iPhone. Fiturnya antara lain layar AMOLED multitouch 3,7 Inch, prosesor 1 Ghz Snapdragon, kamera 8 megapiksel dengan dual-LED flash, Wi Fi dan GPS terintegrasi. Sistem operasinya Android 2.1 dengan user interface HTC Sense.

HTC memang relatif berhasil di industri Android. Menurut riset besutan AdMob pada bulan Februari, tiga dari posisi lima besar ponsel Android yang dipakai di AS adalah produk HTC yakni Hero, Dream dan Magic.

Namun HTC sepertinya tak boleh terlena. Seperti dikutip detikINET dari eWeek, Senin (19/4/2010), HTC dinilai perlu mewaspadai sepak terjang para rival yang tak kalah agresif.

"HTC memang agresif dengan Android. Namun Motorola juga membuat ponsel Android top dan Samsung telah menunjukkan handset Android menarik," ucap Avi Greengart, analis pasar teknologi di Current Analysis ( fyk / ash )

Photos of Dell's Android Powered iPad Look-Alikes Leak

With the iPad being a hot topic, many competitors are looking to rush tablet designs to the market. Microsoft has their much talked about Courier journal-style design. Amazon and Google are also reportedly cooking up tablet devices as well.

One set of tablets that have flown mostly under the radar are Dell's upcoming designs. Dell, currently the third largest computer manufacturer in the U.S., behind HP and Lenovo, is looking to get back on the ball with a trio of tablets.

Recently leaked photos from Dell reveal the Streak tablets to be very sleek and very iPad-like.

The tablets are reportedly called the Streak series. A 5-in. Streak 5 (formerly known as the Mini 5) will reportedly launch with Dell's Aero smart phone on the AT&T network in June. The Streak series, like the Aero, will be powered by Google's Android smart phone and MID operating system.

The 7-in. Streak 7 will arrive late this year and the 10-in. Streak 10 will arrive in "early 2011."

The striking visual similarities between the Streak series and the iPad are hard to miss (the Streak series does have 3 buttons on the front frame face, rather than just one). That surely gives Apple's legal team cause to salivate, but probably makes Apple's sales team a bit unnerved. After all, by the looks of it Apple isn't going to be the only one with a sleek tablet design for very long. Let's just hope Dell takes time to quality test the Streak series thoroughly so it can avoid theheat and Wi-Fi issues that have plagued the iPad.

Verizon's successor to the Droid could be the best Android phone yet

Verizon has been something of the odd-network-out as it doesn't carry either the iPhone — which is constantly rumored to be coming to the carrier — or the Nexus One (though Verizon is in the cards to get Google's "superphone," too).

Well, now it's Verizon's time to shine thanks to the coming of the humbly-named HTC Droid Incredible, which is set to hit stores April 29th. Verizon carried the original Droid and now, with the Incredible, it's got a phone that's on the same level as the Nexus One.

The Incredible has the same 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor as the Nexus One, a 3.7 inch AMOLED touchscreen display, runs Android 2.1, an 8 megapixel camera with a dual LED flash, and has integrated GPS and wireless.

It's all yours for $200 (with a contract, most likely), and the HTC Droid Incredible will be ready for preorder this Monday.

One of the best things about Android is its ability to power a variety of different things. We have seen it on everything from kitchen appliances , watches and now there televisions. This is the second Android powered television that we have seen, Google has plans of introducing their own Android-based television.

This television will make its way to 10 different countries including in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, the Netherlands, Poland, Australia, and Dubai. Unfortunately the US is not on the list, I’m sure it will make its way here through other means. This TV is designed by NCPG in Korea. This TV has an ARM processor running at 833MHz Cortex 8A, USB, HDMI, S-Video port, D-Sub, DVI, and Component. It’s also has a backlit LED, 120HZ and will feature Android 1.5. If you remember, the last television has 1.6 so the television market is fragmented as well(pun). This TV supports ATSC / DVB-T / DVB-C / DVB-T HD Analog and will come in 42”, 55”and 47”.

Google Developing Tablet to Take on iPad

Google CEO Eric Schmidt has confirmed that his company is developing a tablet device based on theAndroid operating system, according to friends that spoke to the executive at a recent event in Los Angeles. The New York Times reports that Google has “been working with several hardware manufacturers,” and “hopes to make its own apps marketplace available for new slate-like devices.”

Although Google is yet to publicly announce such a device, many signs point to its likely launch. For starters, Google has been rumored to be developing a slate device with HTC – the same company it brought Nexus One to market with – since January. Moreover, the company has already announced plans for an e-book storeexpected to launch within the next few months.

It’s also clear that Google has plans for Android that go way beyond phones. There’s already an Android-powered car on the way, as well as plans for what’s being called “Google TV.” While Chrome OS for netbooksis also expected by year-end (and there are rumored Chrome tablets too), an Android tablet now seems imminent.

A move into tablet devices would also further Google’s growing competition with Apple, who just released theiPad. Many other companies are also expected to join the tablet race this year, and just last week, it was reported that Nokia was developing its own device.

Sebulan Tambah 9.300 Aplikasi, Android Kian Panas

Jakarta - Gelontoran aplikasi pendukung yang berjalan di platform mobile Android terus berdatangan tanpa henti. Pada bulan Maret saja, lebih dari 9.300 aplikasi membanjiri dan siap diunduh user.

Menurut data Androlib, kasak-kusuk membanjirnya aplikasi Android sejatinya sudah terasa sejak awal 2010 lalu. Sebab, baru juga awal tahun namun sudah ada sekitar 20.000 aplikasi yang menghampiri.

Kini, aplikasi tersebut terus berdatangan dengan menyentuh angka 42.000 aplikasi, setelah ada penambahan 9.308 aplikasi di bulan Maret dan 5.532 aplikasi di Februari.

Sementara untuk bulan April yang baru saja menginjak belasan hari juga mencatat hasil yang tak kalah banyaknya, yakni 2.230 aplikasi. Jadi bisa saja rekor gelontoran Android di bulan Maret terpecahkan.

Dikutip detikINET dari Information Week, Senin (12/4/2010), jumlah aplikasi pendukung Android saat ini memang masih kalah jauh ketimbang yang dimiliki Apple dengan 140.000 aplikasi dan didapuk sebagai pemimpin pasar.

Namun tetap saja, untuk ukuran pemain baru, geliat Android patut diwaspadai para pemain lama macam Apple (iPhone, iPod Touch, dan iPad), RIM dengan BlackBerry, serta Nokia dengan Ovi Store-nya.

Sebab ibarat mesin mobil balap, posisi Android saat ini tengah panas-panasnya untuk tancap gas untuk mengejar para pesaingnya. Jadi untuk ukuran menyalip dalam hal jumlah aplikasi pendukung, sepertinya tinggal menunggu waktu saja. ( ash / fyk )

Sagem Segera Rilis Ponsel Puma Android

Selain 3G, Puma Phone 2 juga mempunyai baterai yang bisa diisi ulang dengan tenaga surya.

VIVAnews - Sagem dan Puma baru-baru ini mengumumkan bahwa ponsel Android yang digarapnya dalam beberapa bulan terakhir telah "matang" dan siap diluncurkan. Kabarnya, ponsel yang diberi codename Puma Phone 2 ini, akan hadir dengan OS Android.

Banyak hal menarik yang bisa diulas dari ponsel mungil ini. Menurut rumor, suksesor Puma Phone ini tak hanya menjalankan OS Android biasa. Ia lebih bersahabat karena bisa dikustomisasi dan disesuaikan dengan selera pengguna. Selain itu, dengan OS Android, ia diharapkan mampu menyajikan akses cepat ke berita, jejaring sosial, dan membuat belanja lebih mudah.

Adanya solar panel di sisi belakang menciptakan nilai jual tersendiri untuk ponsel ini. Dengan adanya panel tersebut, pelanggan bisa mengisi ulang (charge) baterai dengan menjemurnya di bawah sinar matahari. Ini sangat memudahkan konsumen yang kesehariannya berkegiatan di luar ruangan (outdoor) atau mobilitas tinggi.

Ponsel ini menyuguhkan navigasi sentuh dan gestur pada layar capacitive touch screen-nya yang berukuran 2,8 inci (240x320 piksel). Didukung 3G dan Bluetooth, ia juga menyematkan kamera berkemampuan 3,2 megapiksel lengkap dengan lampu flash.

Kabar baiknya, banderol harga ponsel perdana besutan Sagem-Puma ini akan dijual lebih murah dari Puma Phone, yang dijual dengan harga mulai 400 euro, atau setara Rp 4,8 juta.

Perangkat baru ini diperkirakan baru akan muncul di pasaran pada 2011 mendatang. Dan, rumornya ia juga akan dipasarkan oleh beberapa merk besar yang berupaya mengekspansi segmen pelanggan.

LG LU2300 Android handset gets photos, 'April or May' release date?

Actual, honest-to-goodness photos of what is presumably the Korea-only LG LU2300 handset popped up on a site in the SK recently, and like a family pet that plays professional sports (guess who watched Air Bud last night?) it's certainly captured the imagination of the Android-lovin' world at large. The thing is said to sport a 3.5-inch (800 x 480) AMOLED capacitive touch screen, Android 2.1, landscape mode slide keyboard, support for DivX files, a 5 megapixel (720p video) camera with geo-tagging, WiFi, GPS, DMB tuner and -- last but not least -- a 1GHz Snapdragon processor. The stats are consistent with what we've heard before, and now we have a possible release date: April or May. What we don't have, however, is any reason to believe rumors that this is going to be released in the states as the C710 Aloha. Although we might be skeptical, we understand the inherent wish-fulfillment: this is one sexy phone, and we'd certainly like to see it become available here. Desain Bak iPhone, Samsung Galaxy S Usung Fitur Ketik Cepat

Jakarta - Samsung terkesan masih sungkan mengumbar informasi seputar Galaxy S, handset Android mereka yang digadang-gadang sebagai yang tercanggih. Namun sedikit bocoran, ponsel ini bak kembaran iPhone dan memiliki fitur yang memudahkan pengguna untuk mengetik cepat.

Dibilang kembaran sebab ketika diamati detikINET, Galaxy S memiliki desain body yang nyerempet smartphone besutan Apple tersebut. Hanya saja, layar yang diusung Galaxy S lebih besar ketimbang iPhone, yakni 4 inch.

Perbedaan lain terdapat pada bagian belakang body yang terdapat lekukan di bagian bawahnya. Lekukan ini sangat berguna ketika user ingin mengambil foto dalam format landscape, membuat pegangan jadi lebih mantap.

Dari sisi performa, detikINET masih belum bisa menguji secara dalam. Sebab, Galaxy S yang dijajal masih dalam bentuk prototype. Salah satu fitur yang mungkin patut dicermati adalah keberadaan Swype.

Fitur ini memang bukan fitur baru bagi Samsung, karena sudah lebih dulu terbenam di Omnia II, tapi hanya untuk pasaran Amerika Serikat.

Dijelaskan oleh Fabiant Kayatmo, Product Marketing Senior Manager Mobile Division PT Samsung Electronics Indonesia, Swype bisa dibilang sebagai fitur pendeteksi teks. Fitur ini merupakan solusi Samsung untuk memfasilitasi user agar bisa mengetik dengan sangat cepat.

Ketika dicoba langsung detikINET, cara penggunaannya pun cukup mudah. User tetap menggunakan virtual keyboard qwerty di layar. Namun tidak perlu menekan huruf satu per satu untuk mengetik suatu kata. Tinggal menyeretnya dari satu huruf ke huruf lainnya untuk merangkai kata yang dimaksud. Dan tidak harus sampai seluruh huruf dihampiri, fitur ini kadang sudah memberikan prediksi kata yang dimaksud.

"Untuk menjalankannya dibutuhkan database kumpulan kata-katanya harus komplet. Selain itu, untuk saat ini pengadopsiannya masih berdasarkan bahasa Inggris. Tapi nantinya akan kita adopsi untuk bahasa Indonesia," tutur Fabiant.

Kelebihan lain yang dimiliki Galaxy S adalah sudah menjalankan Android versi 2.1 dan memakai teknologi super Amoled di layarnya. Teknologi ini dijanjikan membuat layar lebih terang dan tajam, namun asupan baterai justru lebih hemat.

Sementara kekuatan prosesornya sama dengan Google Nexus One, yakni 1 GHz. Memori internal sebesar 16GB masih ditambahi slot microSD sampai 32GB.

Kamera Galaxy S juga sudah terhitung mumpuni untuk kategori smartphone, berkemampuan 5 megapiksel. Ponsel ini juga punya kemampuan memutar video HD dengan resolusi 720p. ( ash / fyk )

Built around the 1GHz Tegra 2 SOC, the 11.2-inch ICD Gemini should provide comparable endurance to Apple's A4-sporting iPad, while besting it in the grunt stakes with its glorious ability to chew through 1080p video when required. If that wasn't enough, the rest of this thing's spec sheet reads like a wishlist. Headlined by a 3G connection that allows cellular voice calls (crazy, we know!), it also includes a user-replaceable 40Wh battery, an SD card reader, FM radio, GPS, 802.11n WiFi, Bluetooth, MicroUSB connectivity to PCs and USB peripherals, stereo speakers, and dual webcams -- a 2 megapixel front-facing unit and a 5 megapixel autofocusing snapper on the back. Multitouch displays will be available in both resistive and capacitive flavors, with the 1,366 x 768 resolution being filled by Google's snappy Android OS. Oh, and did we mention it will run Flash? Because it will. Full specs and a comparison to its direct competitors await after the break, though we've yet to find out when this JooJoo killer will be making its arrival or at what price.

Mozilla 'Fennec' Bagi Android Siap Diunduh

Jakarta - Setelah digembar-gemborkan di Facebook, browser internet Firefox Mobile (Fennec) untuk Android kini siap diunduh. Sayangnya ini baru versi unofficial.

Dengan kehadiran Fennec, maka browser pihak ketiga yang bakal dibenamkan di ponsel Android sebagai default browser, tak hanya 'dimonopoli' Opera Mini.

Perlu diketahui sebelumnya, pada Juni 2009, eksekutif Mozilla--perusahaan pembesut Firefox--pernah menyatakan bahwa Fennec tidak akan dikembangkan di Android, karena tidak adanya dukungan SDK (software development kit) dari Google. Namun setelah Android SDK keluar, hal tersebut berubah.

Seperti dikutip detikINET dari blogsdna, Kamis (1/4/2009) salah seorang developer di sebuah forum Android bernama Martin Schirr, kini telah melakukan serangkaian tes terkait hal itu. Hasilnya Fennec dapat bekerja dengan mulus pada Motorola Milestone.
